Verify & Diagnose Rail Comms Systems

Bird’s RailHawk Railway Test Kits combine a unique set of components specifically designed to support all critical RF systems used in rail operations, including:

• Safety-critical control (PTC, ATCS) at 160, 220, 450, and 900 MHz
• Data offload and telemetry (WiFi, 915 MHz, Cellular)
• Crew voice and remote control (VHF 160 MHz, 450 MHz)
• Positioning and timing (GPS 1575 MHz)

Through VSWR and distance-to-fault (DTF) testing, you can ensure that antennas, cables, and connectors for these systems, critical for maintaining railway communication reliability, are properly matched and free of damage or signal reflections.

Each RailHawk kit includes everything you need to get started verifying and troubleshooting your RF systems in a single rugged case:

• The RailHawk handheld cable & antenna analyzer
• Bird’s 7020 Series power sensor, designed specifically for UHF analog/digital radio systems, as well as the GSM-R/LTE-R voice/data systems used in Rail
• All necessary loads, adapters and cabling.

Adapters Galore

Measure Thru- or Terminated Power

The Bird 7020 Series power sensors are ideal for wideband RF power measurements needed for communication systems. The included 25 or 50 W load allows you to take terminated power measurements of your RF systems. Learn More about the 7020 Series

Optional Software

Technician Mode

When technicians or those inexperienced with RF measurements will be using RailHawk, the optional Technician Mode software allows an expert to define measurements that are recalled by a user, limiting the chance for errors or wrong configurations. Common Rail measurements come preinstalled. The full functionality of the RailHawk is retained as an Administrator Mode.
