Wi-Fi 6 test methods and standards update

Wi-Fi 6 is a departure in the evolution of Wi-Fi. Other Wi-Fi generations have focused on “high,” “very high,” and soon even “extremely high” throughput. Wi-Fi 6 instead focuses on “high efficiency.” For this reason, testing with multiple users is a must.

Live demos will include tests of Wi-Fi 6 throughput improvements that come from higher order modulations, as well as tests of the multi-user technologies MU-MIMO and OFDMA. We will explain how Wi-Fi 6 testing must now look beyond traditional throughput metrics to meaningful efficiency metrics such as packet latency, jitter, and loss.

Finally, the seminar will cover the Wi-Fi Alliance work on the new 6 GHz band, and Broadband Forum updates to the TR-398 residential Wi-Fi test.
