Portable wireless isolation chambers

As wireless devices become increasingly ubiquitous, with Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity in everything from smartwatches to home thermostats to security cameras, so there is an increasing requirement to test these devices.
Antennas embedded within small devices such as phones and watches need to testing to verify the effectiveness of the embedded antenna, while Wi-Fi devices utilising the latest technologies such as Wi-Fi 6 must be tested to ensure their designs deliver the expected speeds and coverage.
Typically these tests have been performed in isolated rooms. Using isolated rooms present a logistical challenge, however. They are expensive, and are restricted in availability due to the high costs associated with them and so can cause delays while different teams prioritise their use of the room.

Introducing the octoScope portable chamber

The octoBOX® range of isolation chambers enable an expedited wireless testing pipeline as a more cost-effective, smaller solution that can be deployed at scale when compared to deploying additional isolation rooms.

Being able to house multiple isolation chambers within the lab environment allows a schedule of testing to be carried out much faster than relying on the availability of a single isolated environment.

Available in 3 different sizes from 18 inches to 38 inches the octoScope boxes deliver outstanding isolation of >80 dB even with cables connected through filters.

The complete isolation from outside interference offered by the octoBox® delivers a controlled RF environment that ensures highly repeatable testing to be performed.

When using a traditional room-sized chamber, all the required equipment to perform the test is located within the room, so any cabling between test devices can be made directly.

However, when using the octoBox® a range of filters are available to allow connection of external cabling without compromising the RF isolation.

Available filters include Ethernet, USB, HDMI and DC power.
